Terry Chester Matheny age 71, of Leon, WV passed away Thursday June 27, 2024, at Cedar Ridge Center in Sissonville, WV.

Terry was a twin and one of 13 siblings born on April 16, 1953, in Mason County, WV to the late Roy Abraham and Ermma (Bodkin) Matheny. He is also preceded in death by one brother, Roy Allen "Bub" Matheny.

Terry was a kind and giving man that had a special bond with his twin brother Garry they were two peas in a pod growing up together in a large family they always took care of each other.

Terry went to work for and retired from Mason County Schools and was the friendly hardworking janitor that took pride in keeping his buildings spotless and safe for all the kids he grew to love over the years.

Terry was very active in church and while he was a member of the Kingtown House of Praise and Worship, he loved attending all the local churches and would visit many becoming a regular it seemed at all he attended. Besides church he loved music and loved to sing and would do so at anytime and anywhere.   His huge heart may have gone unnoticed to the masses, but Terry was helpful and generous to the elderly and those in need, he would purchase and deliver groceries and even leave a song to many that did not have the means or ability to do so on their own, Terry was truly a diamond in the rough and our community will deeply miss him.

Terry met his person in the early 2000's and spent the last 17 years married to the love of his life Susie Ann Duncan Matheny, and when asked about Terry; Susie's eyes just lit up and her words were "I just Love Him"

Surviving he leaves his loving wife, Susie of 17 years, his loyal twin brother Garry (Shelly), siblings;  Janet (Bruce) Cunninghan, Betty Lingo, Elva (George) Williams, Chris Von Dach, Denny (Marsha), Annie Edwards, Curt (Cathy), Randy, Rick (Margaret), Mark (Esther0 and Beverly (Paul) Goodnite, step children; Debbie DeVault, James Flint and Roy Junior Flint II, step grandkids; Noah Flint, Angel Flint, Garry Carol, Allan Flint, Brandon Flint, Bradley Flint  and Ryan Flint. The son he had by heart, Junior Duncan and his faithful dog, Tan Tan, along with many friends and extended family.

Service for Terry will be at Crow-Hussell Funeral Home on Saturday June 29, 2024, visitation will be from 11-1, funeral officiated by Pastor George Washington will begin at 1:00, burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Leon, WV.

The family would like to thank the staff at Cedar Ridge Center for their compassion and giving care of Terry while he was there.
