Toby Powell Greer, 60, of Point Pleasant, died Friday evening, June 12, 2009, at his home, with his family by his side. He was a retired boilermaker and member of Local #667, a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a U.S. Army veteran, member of the American Legion, Mason County Post #23, a member of the Stewart-Johnson V.F.W., post # 9926, in Mason and member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Point Pleasant Lodge #731.
Born November 26, 1948, in, Mason County, he was a son to the late Robert Greer, Sr. and Miriam Isabell Greer, of Point Pleasant. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Kay (Stover) Greer; his son, Toby Greer, Jr. and daughter, Summer Greer, both of Point Pleasant; his grandchildren, Porsha Mayo, of Gallipolis, McKabe Swann, of Beaver Dam, VA and Laney Greer, of Point Pleasant; three brothers, Robert Greer, II, Dwight Greer and Dwaine Greer, all of Point Pleasant; and three sisters, Carla Miller, of Gallipolis, Sheila Ann Elkins and Miriam "Shug" Greer, both of Point Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with Pastor Carl "Boxer" Swisher officiating. Burial will follow at Kirkland Memorial Gardens. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion, Mason County Post #23. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday evening, June 15, 2009, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. The family requests that all of Toby's family and friends gather at the American Legion, in Point Pleasant, after the graveside services to share in a meal and celebration of Toby's life.
