Violet Maxine Thomas, 80, of Point Pleasant, passed away, Friday, September 17, 2021. She was born June 7, 1941, in Chesapeake, WV, the only child of William and Clara (Hussell) Schultze. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Emmons Thomas.

Violet was a graduate of Point Pleasant Class of 1959, Huntington Junior Business College, and Huntington School of Beauty and Cosmetology and later became a licensed Barber. She worked as a beautician and barber at Lakin State Hospital and at Cottrill's Beauty Salon. She was a lifelong member of Heights United Methodist Church where she served as President of the United Methodist Women and was active on both the district and local level, Sunday School teacher and church board member. In her youth she was a 4-H member and later became a leader of the Happy Hustlers 4-H Club. She loved to sew and quilt and was involved with the quilting guild at Heights Church. She loved to talk and never knew a stranger.

She is survived by her children, daughter, Lydia (Clifton) Gordon; sons, Larry (Susan) Thomas, David (JoAnn) Thomas, and Daniel (Angie) Thomas; grandchildren, Miriam (Greg) Liming, Samuel Gordon, Emily (Thomas) Hussell, Adam (Emma) Thomas, Shane Gillies, Ashlee (Jay) Vasquez, Kayla (Jay) Jackson, Denver (Ashton) Thomas, Luke Thomas, Marissa Thomas, and Brooklynn Thomas; and great grandsons, Barrett Russell Liming, Braxton Harmon, and Aaron Harmon; and great granddaughter, Tinley Thomas.

There will be a visitation for family and friends at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, on Monday, September 20, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m., at which time the procession will leave for Suncrest Cemetery, where there will be a graveside service at 12:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Charles Marker. In lieu of flowers, an expression of sympathy can be made to: Heights United Methodist Church, 2016 North Main Street, Point Pleasant, WV 25550.
