Obituary

Virgil Durst, of Patriot Ohio, passed away January 21st, at his home following a prolonged illness.  He was born April 7, 1937, in Cottageville, WV, to the late Ed and Bertha (Patterson) Durst.  He was the youngest of nine children.  Virgil was a lifelong farmer, and he enjoyed fox hunting, gardening, and making homemade tools.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Bertha (Patterson) Durst; Brothers Roy, Blaine, Clarence (Elva), Delbert (Irene); Sisters Sylvia (Walter) Ridenour, Gladys (Lester) Keefer, Mildred Hawkins; granddaughter Brandy Craig, and Brother-in-law Randal Brummond.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years,  Dottie Durst; son, Steve (Carol) Craig, of Cottageville; Daughter Anita (Brent) Cheesebrew, of Patriot OH; Grandson, Jeremy Craig, of Cottageville, WV and Granddaughter Ashley Cheesebrew, of Patriot OH; Sister, Hazel Brummond, of Barberton, OH, and sister-in-law,Jackie Sizemore, of Leon WV and several nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Rio Family Health Care, Pleasant Valley Home Health, and Ohio's Hospice.  A tribute to Virgil's life will be Friday, January 26, 2024, at 2:00 pm, at Crow Hussell Funeral Home, Pt.  Pleasant WV With Reverend Bobby Patterson officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial to follow at Baden Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Leon WV.
