Virginia (Long) Sayre, 83, of Point Pleasant, passed away on Friday morning, January 15, 2016, at Holzer Medical Center, after a short battle with cancer. Virginia was a homemaker and was born January 9, 1933, in Henderson, a daughter to the late Cody and Catherine (Pearson) Long. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul A. Sayre; brothers, Charles and Bobby; and sister, Phyllis Jean.
Virginia is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Jeannie Sayre and Larry and Sheri Sayre, all of Gallipolis Ferry; grandsons, Tyler Sayre, of Gallipolis Ferry and Danny and Claire Watson, of Edmond, OK; great-granddaughter, Avery Claire Watson; brothers, Forrest and Johnny Long; sisters, Grace Winnings and Betty Hupp; sisters-in-law, Betty (Sayre) Craig and Pat (Sayre) Frazier; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with Rev. Alvis Pollard officiating. Burial will follow in Kirkland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the James Cancer Center, in Columbus and also Holzer Medical Center, the Holzer Cancer Center, Clinic and Hospice for their concern and care.
