Voyd was born August 15, 1944 in Point Pleasant to the late Vernon M., Sr. and Sofia Clifton, one of two sons.

He graduated high school and found his way to the river where he spent many years working in many capacities in River operations until he retired after nearly 40 years of loyal service.

Over 31 years ago, Voyd  met both his best friend and the love of his life when he met Peggy Johnson. The two married and settled down in Point Pleasant to raise their family.

Voyd is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Johnson Clifton and two children: Michelle (Chris) Love and Jerry Wayne Johnson Jr. (Cess); Three grandchildren: Brianna Johnson,  Jessica Love  and Daniel Love; one brother, Vernon M. (Iris) Clifton Jr., nephew and niece: Richard (Lori) Clifton and Sharon Clifton and a great-nephew Bryce Clifton. He is also survived by Michael Clay Clifton and Bethany Clifton and a  host of family and friends.

Voyd Clifton was a very caring and compassionate man that enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, friends and his precious dog Daisy.  He was never too busy to lend a hand to anyone in need and he touched many with his giving heart and warm smile.  Voyd and Peggy faithfully attended Old Town Board Baptist Church in Letart, WV and his life was full of love and The Lord.   He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
