Obituary

Willard Arthur Pierson, 78, of Leon, WV, passed from this life of struggle into his heavenly home, on April 23, 2024. Willard was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1967, where he served in the Vietnam War. He worked at Foote Mineral and Malleable Iron. He was also the co-owner of Pierson Brothers Sporting Goods, with his brother, Douglas, for 20 years. In later years, he enjoyed working on the family farm until his health did not permit him to do so.

Willard was born October 21, 1945, in Leon, WV, to the late William (John) Pierson and Lillian (Hart) Pierson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Scotty (Kay) Pierson; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Douglas and Allen Sayre; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Willard is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Juanita Pierson, of Point Pleasant; sisters, Violet Douglas and Velva Pierson, both of Leon, and Juanita Sayre, of Racine, OH; nieces and nephews, Tanna Pierson, Ray and Gary Douglas, Darrell and Tonya Sayre, Lora and Steven Blackhurst, Clara and Chad Brown, Katie and Danny Blazer; great nieces and nephews, Celena, Nina, Chevy, Noland and Dawn; uncle Allen and Merlie Hart; aunt, Lizzie and Johnny Beegle; and several cousins.

There will be a funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 26, 2024, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with Pastor Mark Price officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Thomas Ridge Rd., Leon, WV. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. You may offer condolences to the family via this webpage.
