William Ray Chapman, age 69, 0f West Columbia, WV. passed away Monday, December 8, 2014 at Pleasant Valley Hospital. Ray worked throughout his life at the WV Malleable Iron and then Lakin State Hospital, where he retired. He was also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Ray was born on July 10, 1945, in Mason County, a son to the late Parker and Augusta (Ball) Chapman.

Ray is survived by his wife, Darlena (Jeffers) Chapman; step-children, Pamela McGowan, of West Columbia and Michael and Judy McGowan, of Henderson; step-grandson, Mikey McGowan; brothers, Charles and Betty Chapman, of Huntington, and Ambrose Chapman, of Chesapeake, OH; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends who will all miss him.

Ray's life will be remembered at 12:00 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2014, at the Crow-Hussell Funeral Home, with Pastor Bob Patterson officiating. Interment will be conducted privately. The family will receive friends on Monday, at the funeral home, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Military Honors will be provided by the WV Honor Guard.
